The goal of Ostën Boen Designs is to offer the best architectural design service possible, with the client and the site playing an important role in that process. Ostën Boen Designs is a well-established business celebrating more than 35 years in business. We work with residential architecture from cottages to mansions, and also light commercial projects. Past projects have included conventional framed homes, log homes, timber framed homes, and solar/alternative energy homes. We have been practicing sustainable architecture since before it was fashionable.

Our clients and projects are located throughout the U.S. and Costa Rica, but we do most of our projects on the shore of Lake Superior in northern Minnesota and on inland lakes. We have a base office in Grand Marais, Minnesota and a satelite office in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Our personalized service for each project includes a design custom-tailored for the building site whether rural or wilderness setting and the individual style of each client. We never re-use custom designs, making yours unique to you. With our years of building experience, we can also refer you to the best craftsmen in the trades, turning your dream design into reality.
